Success Path Of Least Resistance: The 80/20 Rule

The 80/20 rule states that 85 of your success in life will be the result of 20% of your most important activities. Now if this 80/20 rule is not applied in prioritizing your activities, your mind will automatically involve you in activities that are easier to do and require less thinking instead of the more important activities.

For example, dropping off your clothes at the cleaners may be an easy activity requiring very little planning, stress, or mental energy, but it certainly won't bring you closer to your dreams and goals. If you instead arrange to have your dry cleaning picked up and delivered, and spend the hour you've saved working on the resume you've been meaning to update to get the new job listed on your goals List, you're prioritizing your activities according to the 80/20 rule.

Practiced consistently, carefully, and continuously, this rule will eventually develop into a habit of maximum personal effectiveness. You will find that you are getting up to twice as much done in only half the time. Applying the 80/20 rule also reduces the stress that often occurs when you feel you're getting behind or just aren't producing enough results for the time and effort you are expending.
